Shopping, reading, cleaning, packing to go to the beach tomorrow, and kid-sitting. Apparently.

(End of the world? Really? Granted, I accept that such a thing will happen some day. I scoff at any human claiming the ability to predict the day.)

yay for labor day!!!

went to del rio with bri and cait for caitlin's family reunion this past saturday-monday. lots of fun! i took pictures, which will eventually be up on facebook, but in the meantime:

i spent 10 hours in driving time from houston to del rio via austin, and another 10 hours back again- thankfully i didn't have to drive all that myself!!!! del rio, for those who don't know, is on the border with mexico near a big, BIG lake. very desert climate. we stayed in a very nice hotel but spent days at caitlin's paternal grandparents' trailer near the lake, which is only occasionally occupied. there was lots of food and ps2 games and chatting- and babies!!! cait has two new baby cousins, lilah and milah, who are actually cousins to each other, not sisters, believe it or not. so. CUTE. it made all my maternal instincts go squee.

i forgot my phone charger in houston, so my phone died saturday afternoon/evening, which was fun. we slept for most of the car ride up, or wrote fanfiction. i handwrote like fifteen pages of avatar fic over the weekend. and i did my homework! see, i wasn't completely unproductive. i did design sketches for studio and i did my reading assignment for pols, too. bri did her homework, but cait had left her books at home, so she didn't- sha~ame.... ^/_____^ and we watched the first episode of 'life on mars', because john simm plays the main character. *squee* he looks exactly like, the master, which is kinda weird to think about, in a cool au-fanfiction kind of way.

on a completely random side note, i'm doing all this typing in the dark- i can't see the keyboard. i had no idea that i could type so well- i know where all the keys are, even after moving my hands. this is kind of.... unexpected. but cool. *shrugs*

also, i discovered this weekend that i hate channel-surfing with an unusual and surprising passion that was slightly unexpected on my part. it's just.... ugh. i hate it.

flesh-eating pigeons finally went away this weekend, too, but i still can't find my swimsuit, so that was a bummer. we walked down the mile-plus distance to the lake and put our feet in where the water comes up over the road, but it's not the same as tubing like we did two years ago. ah, well.....

i, robot- the movie, i have and have read the book already.

i just got back from the beach. *beams* it's been a fantastic day. me and kathryn got back on campus about twenty minutes ago and there were people everywhere, y'know? and i asked, 'what are these people here for? ...oh, wait, it's friday. they have class, don't they?' *smirk*

so, anyway... )

so, texas rocks. i love this state.

oh, yeah, and college rocks, too.

at the end of the day there's another day dawning
and the sun in the morning is waiting to rise
like he waves crash on the sand
there's a storm that'll break any second...

so who else loves the lj theme for halloween? *grin* i absolutely adore that little haunted house in the top right corner!!

i'm hoping halloween can be a happy holiday this year. i've already been to two hosted parties and two parties of an improptu nature, and this weekend has been fantastic. i love it here, being able to do whatever and not having to tell my parents, 'oh yeah, i'm going to this party, is that okay?' i definitely went to the beach last night, after the honors halloween party that ran from 8pm to midnight, with a group of about a dozen, no alcohol. we definitely got back at 5:20am not counting the time change!!!! (that's 6:20am, y'all) we had a fire on the beach, marchmellows/smores, and ~17 shooting stars in the clearest sky i've seen in years. it was fantastic!!!! and i've been to house of pies a lot now too; we went there after the arch party, since pretty much everyone there was drunk, and our group is not cool with hangovers. but hooboy this weekend has rocked. well, except for the waste of time and money that constituted my attempt to pay my inspection sticker ticket fee. *frustrated*

well, i've a bit of algebra homework to do, but right now i'm about to play smash with jim and preston. we've been watching avatar all morning. *grin* my bf is as big a geek as i am. kay, going now!!!! i'm getting pretty good at playing link, to the point where i can generally beat the comp players on level 9. i'm smokin!!! and then jim kicks my butt. *eyeroll* it's worse when he gets me to play james bond, cause then all the guys are just waiting at the spawn points to kill me and take my weapons. those.... aww, they're adorable, i can't yell at them. le sigh....

i know, i haven't been on lj in forever. what's new, guys?

so i had a great weekend, but i've just read the part in the iliad where patroclus gets killed by apollo/euphorbus/hector, and it's kind of angsty.... but i finished book 16, which means i'm either caught up for tomorrow, or they assigned us 4 more books and i'm still behind. probably, i'm still behind. *frowns* but i don't have the stomach to read anymore of the iliad at the moment.

so!!!! labor day weekend- i went to galveston island. sand! holy crap, there's sand! it's really nice sand, too, very fine and smooth, as far as sand goes, and believe me, i've seen a few beaches in my days. ^/___^ but it got everywhere!!! of course, it doesn't help that don scooped up a big double handful and poured it over my head, now does it? *eyeroll* ah, brotherly love. but, yeah, we spent the night right off the beach, and i got to watch sunset and sunrise over the ocean. i remember now why i love the ocean- it's so beautiful and peaceful, and it goes on forever, merciless and unchanging and mesmerizing but... not calm, but dependable in its flighty moods. swiftly morphing, always going back to smooth dark greens and blues. just beautiful. *lusty eyes* mmm..... ocean.....

(i could talk about sga here, but really, why do i need to? besides, it's the ocean. i don't need to add anything to make it amazing.)

no school tomorrow, which means i can spend all day in studio doing my layered tones chip-board project. *grimace* literally. all day. ah, love. only architecture......
