myurbandreami just saw the MOST AMAZING THING!!!!
at the cloverleaf intersection of I-10 and TX-99, the highest flyover is from I-10 west to TX-99 south; i take that bridge every morning coming in to work, and the view is pretty awesome. on clear days i can see the high-rises of Houston from there, and the bridge is so tall it can be seen from a few miles down the highway.
this morning the whole region was blanketed in fog, and i mean THICK fog, the kind that you hear described as so present you can cut chunks out of it with a knife. coming west to the cloverleaf, i couldn't see the ramp to that flyover until i was literally on it. but when i got to the top....
that was fracking gorgeous. everything was gray-white outside the bridge, like i was floating in a cloud. to the west things got kind of steely-gray-blue and to the east the sun was a glowing disk at the horizon, turning the fog golden-orange. and to add a special steam-punk vibe to the image, as i went over the bridge the occasional crane would appear in the fog, with black rigging looming up near the edges of the bridge.
it was so amazing. i wanted to turn around and drive it again, and damn being on time for work.
