snake update!!!!!!
(fyi: i own two cornsnakes. just in case you didn't know. :P)
so, it's been three or four months now since i got katrina (anery motley, 66% het dilute) and karacabey (anery) as babies. they're still small enough to fit together in my palm, doing their best impression of a ball python together. kara is growing way faster than kat, though- she's put on maybe three or four more inches than her nestmate. i think cait and i measured them a few weeks ago, and kat topped out at thirteen inches (ish), with kara at... whatever thirteen plus four is. seventeen, there ya go.
kara just shed this past week, which is shed #2 for her, but kat's only shed once so far. i guess kat's markings will come through clearer again after she's shed, but she doesn't look like she will anytime soon. i keep looking at crystal- the snow morph, full grown female(?) corn snake that cait owns, and thinking that somehow, someday, my babies will both be that big. o__0
i can't tell if their markings have changed any. they both have some yellow on their sides, for the few inches nearest their heads, and for katrina the hurricanes on her back are full for that same distance. i also noticed on kat that her belly maintains the pure white all the way to her tail, where for the last few inches it gets speckled, like dust or something. kara's checker-belly goes all the way to her tail.
i still can't decide what kara's head looks like, but kat still has a marijuana leaf on her head. ^___^ other than that, kat has a lot more brown and yellow and pink to her, whereas kara is more of the pure black/grey/white. kat has some black around her hurricanes, and her belly after the yellow fades is pure pale grey, but the space between her hurricanes is all fading brown. kara's markings are, imo, more interesting- in the sense that she does a lot of fading. they technically aren't hurricane markings, but they still look awesome- she has white circles with light grey in the middle, and the outside is black fading to a much darker grey. it's very pretty, if i do say so myself. those actually reverse, like a zebra- near her head they're distinct white/grey orbs, but towards her tail they squish together so that it looks the opposite- black blobs surrounded by white/grey patches. i think they aren't hurricanes though, because right by her head it all fades into a solid white band over her spine. their sides are different too- kat has grey-ish brown sides (past the yellow), with little stripes just one or two scales wide, while kara has a much more patterned look to her sides, with regularly placed and shaped blobs runner her full length. other than that, they're just dang cute little girls.
kara is bigger, and better at anchoring herself- kat still thinks she can go anywhere without wrapping herself around something to hold on to, so she's always falling off my arm or backsliding because she can't get her grip. they both explore and get tangled up together, but for a while kara was a much bigger eater than kat- she'd eat that one baby pinky and look around for another, while kat sat there panting, because day-um that little mouse was bigger around than her! but now kat is finishing just as quick as kara. (of course, this may be because i've switched kara to large pinkies.) they eat every saturday, and that seems fine by them. they're both curious little buggers, too. ^__^
anyway, in other news, it is new years eve- my first day off work, and day one of my two days of doing absolutely diddly-squat. bwahahaha!!!! well, bri reminds me that we'll probably be cleaning cait's room and stuff, but that doesn't count. well, it kind of does, actually, but i've been waiting for free time to do it.... anyway. *sighs* now i'm depressed. thanks, bri.
