wow, i've been in the computer lab for a while.... like, since lunch-time. studio definitely inhibits my social life. *eyeroll* design: my anti-drug

BUT!!! i have two completed cad drawings and three nice photoshop prints of my sketchup model, to a total of the five required drawings due on tuesday. it pleases me that the modern architect doesn't have to do all of these by hand, because that would suck. although i do have to be more-skilled-than-proficiency at three very complicated programs instead... ^/___^ still, i'd take computer skillz over the labor of ink and lead any day. well, almost. the computer offers at once both less and more distraction than doing drawings by hand would: the interwebs at my fingertips, but nothing in the room to distract me except for other people being productive.

i'm realizing that i really need a computer (preferably a laptop) of my own, for the four or so heavy-duty architecture programs that we use: autocad, sketchup, vectorworks, and photoshop are the ones we've used in the past week alone. this depresses me. i have no money. -___-'

also, i see carpal tunnel in my future.

NO!! MAC BAD!! (Except when played by Justin Long, holy SHIT hot stuff! :O... *drool*)
I could try selling art things (read: sketches and inks and prints) in hopes that people will buy them from me, then put it to a "Jen needs a nice Dell souped up by my Bro" fund...

actually i was looking into that... the mac has a lot of functions that i could learn to appreciate- some of my friends in studio have macs and they've shown some of the cooler tools. and itunes and vectorworks are both mac programs that i use often.

...but i'm used to windows and linux, so switching over would be hard. hm.

I'm one of the few people in the world that gets confused as all HELL when using Macs. Must be the whole 'used PCs from the age of six' thing. Justin Long plays Mac in all those Mac-PC commercials, and I only know his name because he was in a tabloid with his girlfriend (Drew Barrimore? WTF? They're dating? For real?)

What happened to your old laptop? Not good enough for the software, or just dead?

Also, I disagree with Bri on the Mac/PC argument; while they may have a bit of a learning curve, they're pretty much the best computers money can buy when it comes to any graphic design program.

p.s. Drew Barrimore? Srsly?

um. the only really good computer i've ever had (ie, good = not a hand-me-down) was the one that was lost out of the back of my truck last summer when i left houston. it was kinda traumatic. i kill computers. *whimpers* i think i'm gonna hold off a couple of years before i get another one.
