jim and i were talking about holiday traditions- or rather, we started out by debating whether we should watch love actually now AND at christmas, or just wait until christmas to watch it, because you HAVE to watch love actually on christmas- and then we got to discussing other movies and holidays and then i started thinking..... anyway. holidays. i have family traditions. what are yours?
christmas
decorated christmas tree
house/yard lights
candlelight church service
presents and stockings
christmas day dinner
st. nick's birthday shoes
watch movies: love actually, rudolph (the claymation version), it's a wonderful life, grinch (either version), charlie brown christmas, muppets christmas
hallowe'en
trick-or-treat with costumes and candy
pumpkin carving
watch movies: nightmare before christmas
thanksgiving
thanksgiving dinner
fall decorations
easter
spring decorations
easter church service
egg hunt
basket hunt
egg colouring
confetti eggs
st. patrick's day
watch movies: boondock saints
wear green or get pinched/tickled/poked
four-leaf-clover decorations
(jim points out that i should have added "get drunk" to this list; i counter that since i only recently discovered an alcoholic beverage that i can stand to consume, this is not yet a personal tradition. so: nyar!)
did i miss anything?

Date: 2008-09-21 08:55 am (UTC)We used to rent and watch movies every friday here, does that count?
We never had set movies to watch during holidays, either.
We didn't decorate much for holidays, because eventually my parents got too old to go up ladders, and they thought it was too dangerous for us.
We also never went to church unless we had a relative in a play.
Other than that, it's pretty similar.

Re-watch Hellboy 1 and then start reading this. It's like a web-comic but with action figures and random crossovers and I LOVE IT.
And it's super funny.
