myurbandreamso, yeah, a-kon totally rocked. so hard.
so, i left on friday, actually about an hour after my last post. aaron picked me up in his truck with colby and bri and then we went back and got sav. so we had a full truck- we were packed in the cab, with all our stuff in the bed. the drive up was okay- i dozed for part of it, and read and listened to music. we got to the hotel at like 4 or 5 in the evening. parking was completely full, so we got dropped off in the lobby and waited while aaron parked the truck, and then we got our room keys and went up. andy had already bought my ticket so i didn't have to wait in line- yay! so bri and i went down to the dealer room; my goal was to take everyone's advice and walk comletely around once before buying anything. so i did- well, i bought fake 3 for caitlin, but that was part of her b-day gift and i couldn't find it in austin- anyway, i got al the way around the outside of the room and i was one stand away from being back at the doors where we started, and then i hit the t-shirt stand. let me say this: i am a sucker for t-shirts. i spent $105 right there. so that was 115 in like an hour. then i had to set aside 60 for my ticket, and that left me with a 39 dollars. then saturday morning i bought the akon shirt for 18. so i was basically broke right off the bat. all-told, i got that stuff, a key chain, an fma necklace, a goth fairy print, a button ('anime: crack is cheaper'), and a bookmark... is that all? and earrings! i bid on them in the art room for 6 dollars, and i got them! then for bday gifts i got a gaara pin and coin purse, an fma tshirt, and a dolphin ring, and a ninja voodoo doll, and two bitches from fireball. i didn't find fireball til this morning! i looked all over in the dealer room for her on saturday, but then this morning when i went through the dealer room with caitlin, we saw a guy with a bunch of bitches on his belt loop, and i was like 'omg bitches where's fireball is she still here?!?!' and he directed us down to the comic/art room. and caitlin bought twelve bitches, two for me, one for bri. yay!!!! so that's what i got at a-kon. well, i also got a shirt for dani and one for my brother, and a got a bottle of ramune for my sis. there was this one shirt i wanted ot get, a nerdy pick-up-math-geeks shirt, kinda like the calculus shirts this year fro school- it read, in math terms, 'integral of 2xdx from 10 to 13, question-mark'. if you solve it, laugh and tell me how awesome that is. totally awesome!!! but i was out of money by that point. and there was a slytherin patch i wanted to get too. ah, well, i'll just have to come back next year. and i didn't get a sword, or a boken, though i could have if i didn't buy anything but that and the tshirts. well, i didn't. *pouts* i turned 18 on saturday and everything!!! it was completely legal for me to buy a sword if i wanted to!! but i have to say, this was the best birthday EVER. grandma and grandpa called me and left a message on my cell, and uncle dana called me too and we talked. and i called chari, and we talked a bit. and i called mom- she crashed the yoyo friday night while i was gone! *gasp* but she's alright, and the yoyo is mostly fixable- we think. anyway.
possibly better than buying everything was the experience of being in a-kon. there were so many people!!!! the whole hotel was filled with kon people, most of them cos-playing. i called the annual freakshow of dallas. evrywhere was the bleach captains, naruto nin, and roy. well, there were some others too, but those were the popular ones. there was a gir, and a nanashi, and a kick-butt sesshie. jeremy did that guy from the racing anime, with the blue shirt, and the white helmet with an 'm' on it. so much fun just walking around and seeing all the cosplayers. i didn't watch the contest but it was playing on akon tv later saturday night. the tv!!! so, we were in room 1574 in the same hotel as the kon was in. and they had all kinds of stuff playing on the tv. there was the cosplay show, obviously, and i think they put the concert on too. and then they had some random anime thing called 'president dr. steve elvis america'- so~o funny- and some music vids. and ask-a-ninja!!!! the theme of the kon was pirates vs. ninjas- this was a-kon 17, btw. the kon shirt is adorable!!! anyway, they had ask-a-ninja playing, with this little ninja jingle which is now stuck in my head, and questions like 'how do you kill a ninja'. the ninja guy on the screen would come out and say 'what's all this negativity? i personally thin it's very rude to ask someone how to kill them, though i don't know how everyone else thinks about this since, y'know, they're dead, but if you HAVE to kill a ninja then you need to *censored* and after that get a cowbay and *censored* and then you have to *censored* and when you've completely painted the pidgeon you *censored* and that's how you kill a a ninja.' so~ooo funny!!!! andy pro'ly has them memorized- ask him. oh yeah, our room. so i told my parents that there would be separate rooms for girls and guys, so they'd let me go, but in actuallity, there were nine people sleeping in our room, and half were girls. caitlin wasn't there the first night, but last night it was me, her, bri n sav, andy, aaron, alex, becca, and colby. is that nine? that's all of us. jeremy and knives and... adam? whatshisname- nandemonai- they were in our group too, kinda, but they didn't sleep in there with us. we were packed in like sardines!!! it was so much fun!!! and aaron had brought an ice chest full of ramune, that japanese pop, and by the time we left we had ramune bottles lined up two-deep on the window sill. delicious!!! and there was ramen and grilled-cheese sandwiches too, but i didn't have any. i brought most of my own food, and there was a food court nearby, by going down to the second floor and taking the walkway over the road to another building. there was a strassenbahn!!! our window was right above the walkway bridge, looking out on the paring lot and downtwon to the northwest, and the streassenbahn went by right beneath us. very cool. anyway, the food court- there was an ice rink. saturday morning, me and colby and sav and aaron went there for breakfast, and it was the most vulgar and amusing experience i've had in a long while- excluding the anime porn everyone watched last night- which was just vulgar and gross, and i covered my eyes for more than half of it. thankfully, caitlin got there halfway through the second episode and i left to meet her in the lobby. she had work until 3, and didn't leave austin till 4.30pm, so the dealer room was closed last night by the time she got there. *pouts* but it was an enjoyable experience all around, being in the dorms. for a while there on saturday afternoon it was me and the guys- aaron, colby, adn jeremy- and boy was THAT an experience; i think they broke my brain!! but it was fun. and... so many inside jokes!!! after a bit bri n sav joined us in the room, and i went to take a shower. bri didn't even go to slepe till 6.30am on saturday!! but i was asleep mostly by 1am both nights. saturday night we watched bebop, and then me n nee-san stayed up taking for a bit, and then andy and nee-san talked and i went to sleep. we slept till like 10.30am this morning, b/c we closed the curtains- it was dark in the room!!! but that was fun all the same. well, i went back with caitlin oday, because everyone else wanted to do karaoke when they got back, and i had tot ake mima to get her mail and stuff and i needed to d that by 6pm. so we came back, and she hung out at my house for a bit while i drove mima around, and then we went to zen. yay zen!!! i drove for nee-san on the ay back to austin, cause she was tired, andthen becaseu she wanted to draw and eat ice cream. so we switched. her car is so... so diferent! it's all tiny and low to the ground, and the brake and gas are differnet than in my truck and i ahd to move the seat way up to reach the pedals b/c nee-san's so much taller than me! but it was okay after a bit. and caitlin was drawing toph, because we had crazy bleach 11th squad plot bunnies and toph would totally be in the 11th squad. so she was drawing and we were talking.
kay, i'm gonna do other stuff besides babble about the awesomeness of a-kon now. mostly b/c my bro is sitting behind me watching stargate- without me- as always. goober!!!! i bought him a stargate tshirt and everything. >_< that's boys for you. *eyeroll*

No Sleep at A-Kon
Date: 2006-06-12 02:24 pm (UTC)Oh and I left the room becuase, there wasn't enough floor in that room for me to stay the night, I had a nice fold-out-bed waiting for me in room N2480 (executive suite) that I paid $25 that night to sleep on; I was so tired though, I almost just fell asleep behind Bri during that anime. And then that time I returned when ya'll were watching Bebop I was confused and lost trying to find my room to go to sleep, thats why it seemed odd.
