are you in xmen fandom? like star wars. it is a pretty long-standing fandom, and this movie not only ignores original canon, it obliterates it - but anyway, have you ever followed anything marvel, like xmen?

I'm not in X=Men currently; in the 80's I followed X-Men *and Marvel's Star Wars comics*, and the Fantastic Four. Waaaaay back in the early 60's - about 1972, I read tons more comics: Journey into Mystery with the Mighty Thor, The Avengers, and most consistently, Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos. I got started with Marvel's Thor because I loved mythology, and the rest followed. Later on, the DC stable appealed more and I dropped off reading Marvel, except for SW. Oh yeah, and Groo, which was Marvel for awhile. /end of boring history/

is where I began to rec fanfics for some favorite comic series -- that was back in March 2011 -- so by this rec list you can see more of what I used to follow. I was a little embarrassed to make it such a personal rec list for comics, but there you go.

From what I'm hearing, this movie is making its own canon, fine and dandy. If Star Trek can reboot, Marvel's movies can reboot old comic series.
