weeee!!!!!!!

happy dead saint day, everyone!!!!

(for those of you who didn't know, this most auspicious hallmark holiday is named after the martyred st. valentine of... some european country before the invention of plumbing. he was hanged for something or other on february 14th, for which he was martyred and sainted (go catholics!), and we now recognize his great sacrifice by giving each other flowers and chocolates and asking each other on dates. so i get a big kick out of the phrase "will you be my valentine?" b/c it basically means "will you go to the gallows for love of me?" yay, history. *snickers*)

jim made me pancakes. mm.... foodie boyfriend: must have. we were going to go out somewhere special and secret, but he had to fulfill RA duties, so i watched 'heroes' and did homework instead. but i got flowers too, especially this amazing lily (fav. flower!), but some roses and stuff too. so, all in all, a satisfying day, considering that i don't put much stock by these sorts of holidays. (see above sidenote. *eyeroll*)

thus, i am well pleased. sleep now.

Yep thats my faith. A guy becomes a human pinata and to piss other people off he becomes a saint, to later be bastardized by American Culture, who thinks the name sounds romantic, so his life must been too. Oh and on a side note, all the other saint days were all crammed into All Saints Day, but that too was bastardized and candy was thrown into it a day early, Halloween. Supposed to be a day of remembering all those who fought for the faith and became martyred, day devoted to prayer. Oddly, Mexico's Day of the Dean Festival, has it more so to the original tradition.

actually, st. valentine's day was made into a national holiday by the us congress to boost the economy in the early 20th century, hence it being too cool for all saints' day. ^/____^ my fav representation of the day of the dead is in the movie with anotonio banderas and johnny depp, i think it's called 'once upon a time in mexico'. i liked it, anyways.

I have that movie! Once Upon A Time in Mexico. It's not so much about the Day of the Dead, but close.

And THEN the Catholic church decided he didn't exist after all!
Or so I'm told. Please go do that research for me.

Hopefully the padres will take news of his *real* age well and he can travel to the cabin with us. You'd like him much much. He has a massive anime collection.
