-zentrum paul klee (paul klee center) bern, switzerland 1999-2005, engineers ove arup etc: art gallery et al in honor of the city's great artist paul klee; designed as three main 'hills', each with its own purpose- performance hall, permanent and temporary gallery space, and childrens' ateliers area; roof structure is one visually continuous wave of steel beams, flowing over each hill, down to the ground in the space between, and passing back up to the next hill, with walkways between; the roof/wall structure, which is synonymous, is made of a heavily but delicately filtered system of glass and shading, allowing light into the galleries while excluding harmful radiation from reaching the paintings themselves; part of each bldg is underground
